About CourseComments

CourseComments is a place for BYU-Idaho students to share honest, useful reviews of classes, tied to the professor and the semester they took them. It's a student project, built by students, and it's in testing right now.

CourseComments is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or run by BYU-Idaho. Course listings come from the official 2026–2027 catalog, and professor names and departments from the university's public faculty directory and class schedule.

How it works

  • Reviews are about a specific class. Each one is tied to a course, a professor, and a semester, so you can see how a class went with the person who'll actually teach you. Course pages can be filtered by professor.
  • Only BYU-Idaho students can write them. You sign in with your @byui.edu email, so every review comes from someone who could have taken the class. One review per class per student.
  • Reviews are anonymous. Your name and email are never shown. We don't even store your email address. See our privacy page.
  • Every review is read before it goes live. An admin checks each one against the guidelines below.

Review guidelines

Write the review you'd want to read before signing up for the class. Harsh is fine. Unfair or personal isn't.

  • Do talk about the class: the teaching, how clear it was, the workload, the tests, how grading worked, and what you wish you'd known.
  • Do be specific. "Weekly quizzes on the reading, and the final was cumulative" helps more than "hard class."
  • Don't insult or attack anyone, or comment on someone's appearance, beliefs, or personal life.
  • Don't share private information: phone numbers, addresses, health, family, or anything about other students.
  • Don't make claims you can't back up from your own experience in the class.

Reviews that break these guidelines aren't published. If you see one that slipped through, use the Report link under it.

For professors: corrections and takedown requests

Reviews are about real people, and we take that seriously. If you're a professor and something here is wrong (your name, title, department, or a class you're listed as teaching), or a review breaks the guidelines above, contact us through the feedback form. Tell us the page and what's wrong.

An admin reviews every request. Listing corrections are made as soon as we can confirm them. A review that breaks the guidelines is taken down. A review that's critical but fair, and about the class, stays up: honest feedback is the point of the site.

Help us improve it

We're testing CourseComments with a small group of students. Found a bug, or have an idea? Use the feedback form. There's also a link at the bottom of every page.
